This is the phase often dubbed  the valley of death phase due to the very high risk in the venture. In the US, this phase is bridged by bold venture capitalists who embraced the risks while prospecting very high potential returns. In Malaysia normally the funding in this phase are covered by grants from government instead of the venture capitalists. Unfortunately this come with  problems  that results in less than optimum outcome. Popular mode of operandi for scholars these days are to isolate your talent so that one can focus on producing the impeccable article that can be accepted in high impact journals. Signs of distress can be seen in other areas of duty, scholars becoming less enthusiastic in teaching, in connecting with people from other areas, in connecting with industry and community. Setelah bertahun bekerja, mulalah terfirkir kena mohon naik pangkat. dah bertahun bekerja, berhempas pulas untuk organisasi, untuk naik pangkat kena mohon, kena bermati2an sekali lagi buktikan atas kertas bahawa anda telah menjalankan tanggungjawab sedaya upaya anda. BErtahun berdiri depan pelajar, bermesyuarat sana sini, hantar artikel etc, tu semua tak bermakna kalau tak tulis atas kertas. Maka carilah maklumat macamana nak naik pangkat. Berbagai borang sana sini klik, dekat 40 minit klik sana sini barulah jumpa. dah download. TUJUH muka surat!!  TUJUH muka surat hanya untuk menerangkan prosedur sahaja. Belum borang2nya lagi...  Baiklah, dah download prosedur. Lepas tu kena download scorecard, belum borang permohonan lagi ya. SCorecard, untuk isi markah,letak nombor, no feeling, just nombor. tahu berapa muka surat? 10 MUKASURAT!!!! Hanya untuk isi markah. Dato Ar Dr Ken Yeang, tokoh dalam senibina klimatik antarabangsa; telah membaca puisi RUMAH iaitu karya Tenas Effendy tentang budaya melayu yang berlatarkan berbagai aspek rumah tradisi Melayu sebagai ikon budaya melayu. Tertarik dengan tulisan itu, Ar Ken yeang sendiri telah mengusahakan penterjemahan puisi tersebut ke dalam Bahasa Inggeris. Saya mencadangkan agar semua pelajar senibina membaca buku ini dan mentafsir bagaimana sebuah senibina boleh menjadi terjemahan falsafah hidup, bahkan penyelesaian persekitaran yang baik. Anda juga akan belajar berpuluh-puluh terma binaan, dan prinsip binaan yang ada di dalam senibina rumah Melayu. Satu contoh - Saya sering mengingatkan pelajar saya supaya berhati2 apabila Bangunan yang di reka, menghadap Barat. Terjumpa puisi ini di dalam buku tersebut.. "Kalau rumah mengadap barat, Bagai lesung batu tidak beranak, Lada ada, sambal tak lumat, garam sebuku, tak tergiling" ...spot on Prakata oleh Dato Lat. Ilustrasi Ahmad Harun...

Samada dalam bentuk penulisan ataupun dalam bentuk sumber manusia yang berkemahiran dan berpotensi menjadi ejen perubahan negara dan dunia. Tetapi kita lihat kebanyakan yang masyarakat Malaysia baca adalah berita dan maklumat yang datang dari berbagai sumber, DAN kebanyakannya bukan dari universiti. Mana kah tulisan2 berilmu dari universiti? jawabnya banyak terkumpul di dalam majalah2 akademik berprestasi tinggi yang tak mampu di baca oleh orang awam, Bahkan sarjana dari bidang yang lain pun tak...
